Safe mobility is about reducing the risk of harm on our streets for all road users. Improving road infrastructure, such as installing bike lanes, traffic calming measures, and signalized intersections helps to reduce conflicts on our roads. We work with schools to improve safety for kids and we operate a state-of-the-art traffic management centre to control congestion across the city in real-time. However, everyone plays a part in improving safety by being aware, respectful and focused while using Surrey's roads. The casualty collision rate per 100,000 population in Surrey is an indicator of how safe Surrey's roads are for all users and the City aims to see a downward trend over time. This indicator is also a performance measure for the Public Safety Strategy.
