Availability of Doctors

Health care professionals provide services such as diagnosis, treatment, and care. Primary health care professionals, such as general practitioners and nurses, are especially important because they are often the first points of contact for someone with a health care concern and can play a significant role in helping patients to maintain good health and prevent illnesses. The availability of health care providers is a measure of how accessible the health care system is. The City aims to have the number of doctors per 100,000 residents on par with other major urban centres in the province. Data source: Canadian Institute for Health Information.
