Community Waste

Diverting waste extends the life of landfills by reducing the volume of garbage, and reduces the greenhouse gases that are released from the landfill. Diverting waste saves money spent on collecting and disposing of garbage, and allows the economic value of organic waste, and usable or recyclable materials to be recovered. The percentage of waste from Surrey citizens that is diverted is a measure of how well residents reduce their waste.
