Mode of Travel to Work

Transportation accounts for a large portion of greenhouse gas emissions in the province, with vehicles also contributing to traffic congestion, local air pollution and smog. Taking transit, walking, cycling, and carpooling are ways of getting around that have lower environmental impact, release fewer greenhouse gas emissions, have more health benefits, and contribute to cleaner and healthier communities. Modal share of travel to work is a measure of how sustainable our travel patterns are. Data sources: Translink Trip Diaries and Statistics Canada (Note: 2011 data quality may be inferior to previous years due to the voluntary nature of the National Household Survey that has replaced the mandatory long form census).
