Age of Buildings

The age of buildings is an approximate estimate of building quality. While older developments facilitate mixed uses and are important pieces of local history, they also tend to have more problems. Older buildings usually have more maintenance issues and can pose health hazards, such as asbestos and lead-based paint, due to years of poor maintenance. The median age of buildings by neighbourhood is a measure of the quality of existing development in Surrey.
