Place of Work

Compact and complete communities provide opportunities for residents to work close to home. Local jobs can make walking, cycling and taking transit to work more attractive options, resulting in cleaner and healthier communities, fewer cars on the road, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The comparison between the percentage of residents that live and work in the same community to those who live locally but work elsewhere is a measure of a complete community. Data source: Statistics Canada (Note: 2011 data quality may be inferior to previous years due to the voluntary nature of the National Household Survey that has replaced the mandatory long form census).
